Adjusting the Simple Pump Hand Well Pump to Periscope Position

  • The steps used to periscope the Simple Pump up or down are the same.
  • Please find the steps described in detail below.
  • Please read the complete instructions before attempting to make an adjustment.
  • We suggest you perform this operation with a helper.

WARNING: Before attempting to adjust the periscope position of the pump be aware that depending on the depth of the system it can be quite heavy. We suggest you review the weight of your set before moving forward. One of our nine-foot drop pipe kits full of water weighs 8 pounds and the rest of the assembly weighs 20 pounds.

To determine the total weight of your system, multiply the number of drop pipe kits by 8, then add 20 to that total. Example, a system with 13 drop pipe kits will be (13 x 8) + 20 = 104 + 20 = 124 pounds.

Adjustment Steps

Step 1

Loosen the three bolts on the top of the split flange. Do not remove, just slightly loosen.

Before the next step make sure that you are prepared to handle the weight, either lifting up or guiding down. You will want your helper to grab a hold of the system now.

Step 2

SLOWLY loosen the pinch bolt on the side of the split flange. Loosen the pinch bolt until the system can be moved. Move to the desired position.

If you are lowering the system, make sure to stop at least two inches above the split flange to ensure that you can still get an Allen wrench in the bolt.

Step 3

Once in the desired position fully tighten the pinch bolt on the side of the split flange. Once this is done the pump will be secure.

Step 4

Fully tighten the three bolts on the top of the split flange. Adjustment is complete.
